Ondertussen is het, blijkbaar, al bijna een jaar geleden dat er nog enige activiteit viel te rapporteren vanuit dit front. Ik weet het, ik weet het, het is een schande. Een grote schande…
Met de verhuis van Sint-Lievens-Houtem naar Kortrijk en de geboorte van onze dochter is het bijberoep toch even op een laag pitje gezet.
Maaaarrr, daarom zijn we dan ook reuzeblij om u nu toch een kleine preview te geven van de shoot van vandaag, die, hopelijk, terug een aanzet is om de zaak terug aan te zwengelen.

De prachtig speelse Yanomi verscheen vandaag voor mijn camera om samen te zorgen voor wat leuke foto’s die we konden gebruiken voor de bedankingskaartjes voor haar communie binnenkort. Het meisje was eerst nog wat nerveus en verlegen, maar al snel gingen alle remmingen het kanaal (daar was de shoot ook, dus best handig) in en dat viel te merken. Het was een heel aangename en vlotte samenwerking en ik hoop dit in de toekomst nog eens te mogen doen. Er zullen meer resultaten volgen eens de communie achter de rug is, maar voor nu moet ik mij beperken tot dit knappe portretje dat ik wist te maken onder een klein brugje:

One of the assignments for this first year of photography was a small photo documentary of a city. I choose Ostend for the job and after a lot of hard work I’m finally ready to ship them off to the printer.
After being impressed by the superb quality of the Canon 50mm EF 1.8 as a portrait lens for the 100th time, I thought, what the heck, I’m gettin’ me one!
So I did, and man this lens is amazing, the DOF on 1.8 really blows me away and the great bokeh makes my other lens almost superfluous.
Sooo… what’s the first thing to do when you get a new toy? … Right…, so here we are.

Last night me and my friend David decided that a full moon and clear skies were all the reasons we needed to head out and try our luck at some long-exposure shots. David knew this great little spot of nature not too far from Ghent but without the disturbing orange glare commonly known as “Street Lights”. We set out with our tripods and camera’s to try and capture some of natures beauty in the dark. We did a whole bunch of 30″ exposure shots wich means you’re standing still most of the time, just waiting for the camera to finish. I’ve learned that standing still in a dark snowy grass field, when its -11° outside, is not the most comfortable position to be taking pictures, but in the end I think it was worth it, even if I did manage to only get one shot right This shot has a 30″ exposure at ISO 400 and f7.1
